Description |
This is an advertisement for the "Louisville Hotel" with an image on the back from 1853. The image is of the Louisville Hotel and depicts a four story stone building with ten columns in the front. There are steps in the middle between two stone walls on the first floor. There is a balcony at the top of the columns and a flag pole on top of the building. There is a sign that reads "Louisville Hotel" on the front of the balcony. There is print below the image that reads "M. Kean, Proprietor, Main Street, between Sixth and Seventh Streets, Louisville, KY." There is an image on the back that is titled "View from Hyde Park (Hudson River)" and depicts the river at the left of the image with several sailboats in it. At the right there are several people sitting in chairs or on the ground in the foreground. There are many trees at the right and below the hill at the left of the image. There are hills in the background with some buildings in front of them. |

Reverse side shows Bartlett's "View From Hyde Park". The book of views is said to have been published with the advertisements on the reverse sides, for placing on steamboats, for perusal by the passengers. |
