Description |
This is a two piece black silk dress. The bodice is made grosgrain silk and has a standup collar. There is a large bow at the center front. The set-in sleeves are puffed at the shoulders and taper to the wrists, which are scalloped at the ends. There are center front hook/eye closures. There are two square jet decorations on either side of pleats at the waist on the back. It is lined with linen and heavily boned. The skirt is long and full skirt with center back hook and eye closures. |

Donated by Linda Stratton and worn by her mother to Governor Beckham's inaugural ball in 1900. "It cost $400 for a 'dressmaker' to make it, but everything was furnished by the owner, my late mother." |
