Description |
These three Minie balls (a, b, and c) are of a conical shape with a hollow in the base. Each bullet has three indented rings encircling the base. One Minie ball (c) is flattened on one side and is missing a portion of its base and tip. |
Notes |
These bullets were found on the Chickamauga Battlefield near Snodgrass Hill in the vicinity of the Orphan Brigade. The Confederate First Kentucky Brigade, nicknamed the Orphan Brigade, included the 2nd, 4th, 6th and 9th Kentucky Infantry regiments and Cobb’s, Byrne’s and Graves’s batteries of artillery, and, at times, the 3rd and 5th Kentucky Infantry. |
