Description |
This is a small leather folded notepad. On the front two embossed frame-like designs. In the upper one is a steeplechase image. There is no image in the lower frame. On the inside on the proper left is a mirror. On the proper right is a pocket with a piece of plastic or bakelite. There is a small pencil in the fold held in place by a small leather strap. The back of the notebook is stamped "GERMANY." |
Notes |
The notebook belonged to African-American jockey William "Billy" Walker. He rode Kentucky Derby winner, Baden Baden in 1877. He was a writer for many turf magazines and was also an advisor for Hamburg Place, the John Madden farm in Lexington, KY. |
