Notes |
Vice President Al Gore of Tennessee and his running mate, Senator Joseph Lieberman, were defeated in the 2000 presidential race by Republicans George W. Bush (Governor of Texas) and Richard Cheney (Pennsylvania). Gore narrowly won the popular vote count but lost in the electoral college. Tipper Gore introduced her husband, Al Gore, at the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles on Aug. 17, 2000. As he went on stage to give his acceptance speech for his nomination as the National Democratic presidential candidate, he gave his wife an unusually passionate kiss. The Gores announced their separation in 2010. |
