Notes |
The Kentucky Military Academy has been part of the National Guard training courses since the 1940s. The Academy evolved into the Officer Candidate School in the 1970s and was reconstituted as an OCS connected school in 1982. This insignia was submitted for approval to the Institute of Heraldry in 1987. "Semper Ductus" can be translated to mean "Always a Leader." The green and gold colors are traditionally associated with the Army. The gold denotes excellence and the original unit, the Kentucky Army National Guard Candidate School. The torch represents knowledge and military leadership. The 15 stars represent Kentucky, the fifteenth state in the union. The distinctive unit insignia was approved May 1, 2001. |
