This is a print from a wood engraving of a sketch by Henri Lovie. It is from Leslie's "Pictorial History of the War of 1862", New York, and is captioned "The Rebel Morgan With His Guerrillas Bivoucking in Court House Square, Paris, Bourbon County, After Levying Contributions on the Inhabitants." In the middle of the foreground, a bare footed black man carries a bucket, followed by a small girl. Behind him, a top-hatted civilian is escorted by two men in the direction of Morgan, pictured on horseback. The rest of the square is filled with horses and men, with the courthouse in the background. |
