Notes |
"Home! Sweet Home!" was a song adapted from American John Howard Payne's 1823 opera "Clari". The melody was written by Englishman Henry Bishop. It became very popular in the U.S. throughout the civil war era. This item was manufactured by the Phoenix Silk Mfg. Company of Patterson, New Jersey. It was donated in January 1939 by Hattie M. Scott of Frankfort. Scott was a teacher, editor, and genealogist who authored/edited several articles in the Register of the Kentucky Historical Society. |
