Description |
This is a basketball trophy that was given to the 1962 post champions at Fort Stewart, Georgia. The piece has a rectangular wood base with an engraved plate on the front that reads: "POST CHAMPIONS/ 1962/ FT. STEWART, GA." On the base in the front center is a figure of the winged goddess Nike/Victoria holding a torch overhead. At the back of the base are two vertical wooden pieces with brass torch shaped plated affixed to the front. Between these wood pieces is a wooden piece shaped as a rectangular prism. This piece has a brass plate on the front that bears the engraved inscription: "CO."B"/ 2/123rd ARMOR/ PLAYERS/ HART/ DORAN/ TAPSCOTT/ NEWSOME/ SHELTON/ WILSON/ ROACH/ SIMMONS/ GILTNER/ HENDON." The top piece is a figure with its arms raised up and has a basketball in one hand. The figure is made of metal and painted gold. The base of the figure is stamped with "KAAG TROPHIES INC." A rod that is threaded at both sides is attached to the base and is the mechanism for attaching the figure to the trophy. |
