Description |
This is a political campaign button for John B. Breckinridge who ran for Kentucky Lt. Governor in 1971. The button was made by lithographic process, and it has a dark blue background. The letters in white around the top read "I'M FOR JOHN"; with 'BRECKINRIDGE' in the center, and along the bottom, "FOR LT. GOV". Two white circular maker's marks are imprinted on the front bottom rim. There are two pieces of black shoestring with white metal ends glued to the back of the pin. |

John B. Breckinridge, Democrat, was twice elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives and served there from 1956-1960. He was elected Attorney General of Kentucky in 1967, and served his second term from 1968-1972. He ran for Lt. Governor of Kentucky in 1972 but lost to Speaker of the Kentucky House of Representatives, Julian Carroll. |
