Description |
This U.S. Model 1840 Medical Staff Officer's presentation sword is comprised of three parts, a sword (a), a scabbard (b), sword belt and buckle (c), and a sword knot (d). The leather sword belt and buckle (c) is a plain brown leather belt, the stitching is missing from the reverse side of the belt. There is a sword leather sword hanger, two hinged brass attached by a D-ring and two waist belt brass attached by a D-ring. Three brass rivets are present on the sword hanger, one combined with a brass hook. The obverse side of the brass buckle is molded with a spread eagle, holding olive branches and a splay of arrows. It is surrounded by an open wreath, with an "E PLURIBUS UNUM" banner and stars across the top. The sword knot (d) is made of a thin gold decorative ribbon with a metal fringed end. It is unattached from the sword or sword belt. |
