Description |
This is a small male doll dressed in an Italian costume. The doll has brown pants, a red shirt, and a fake wool vest. It appears that all the materials are made of felt. The doll is wearing a brown hat and is carrying a stick. It has white socks and gray fabric that is tied on as shoes. There is a canteen-like object hanging from a red strap that crosses the body of the doll. The doll has a tag that reads, "Made in Italy/Magris/Roma." |
Notes |
This doll was donated by Jeanette Lehman (1904-1986). She was born in Midway, Kentucky where she lived and worked as a librarian. This doll appears to be a Lenci doll with a tag reading "Made in Italy/Magris/Roma." Lenci, an Italian company, were well known for their felt pressed dolls. They were in production from 1919 to 1944. |
