Description |
This is a communion plate that is part of a communion set from the former Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Columbia, Kentucky. The plate is quadruple silver plated with a depressed center area and a rolled edge rim. There is the manufacturer's information at the center on the back of the plate that reads, "MAN'F'D & GUARANTEED BY/ THE MIDDLETOWN SILVER CO./ QUADRUPLE/ 1." |

This communion set was donated by Sharon Mandt. This silver communion set was from the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Columbia, Adair County, Kentucky. The set survived the 1974 tornado when the entire church was taken except for the pulpit. The set had been stuffed into the pulpit along with a lamp. The church was very old and the congregation so few that the church they did not rebuild nor continue. The surviving pieces were sold and the donor's mother purchased the communion set. |
