Description |
This is a woman's small black hat. It has a 2" wide wool close brim that is decorated with many rows of piping. It is trimmed with four layers of 1" pleated shear material. The hat has a flat crown and long grosgrain black ribbons that extend from the back and tie under the chin. It is lined with black glazed cotton. |

The clothing items in this donation belonged to Hazel Neal Bennett (1-26-1903 to 8-27-2001) who was born in Williamstown Kentucky. She was a career woman who worked for the Farm Home Administration. In 1923 She married a farmer named Glenmore Bennett (d. 1989). The couple had no children. They opened the department store called Frakes and Bennett in Williamstown. They sold general dry goods and clothing. Hazel was an accomplished seamstress and quilt maker. Hazel's grandmother was called "Granny Robinson" and several of the items in this donation belonged to her. |
