Description |
This four ounce clear jelly preserving jar is made of machine cast glass. There is small lip at the brim, straight smooth sides, and tapered base. A tinplate lid with no screw marks sits on top. |
Notes |
The donor, Tom Murphy, was born in 1919 and grew up on his family's 230 acre farm on Murphy Lane in Jefferson County. Tom moved to a farm in Oldham County in the 1950s, eventually retiring in the 1990s. These jelly jars were used by his grandmother, Harriette DuPont Murphy, his mother, Catherine Barbbee Murphy, and his wife, Mary "Bea" Murphy to preserve homemade fruit preserves and jellies. |
