This is a pair of sand-cast iron andirons in the shape of duck, camel, or Loch Ness monster. |
Notes |
According to donor, these andirons were manufactured at Buckner Furnace in Muhlenberg County. The furnace was a cold-blast charcoal operation built by Aylette Buckner and Cadwallader Churchill in 1837, five miles south of Greenville. Until 1842, the furnace produced hollowware, domestic goods, and pig iron. |
