Notes |
Rick Pitino became head coach of the Kentucky men's basketball team in 1988, after stints at Boston University, Providence, and the New York Knicks. Inheriting a team on NCAA probation, Pitino rebuilt the Wildcats into a national power, winning the men's national championship in 1996. He left Kentucky for a multi-million dollar contract with the Boston Celtics in 1997. He resigned from the Celtics after four losing seasons in 2001. |
