Description |
This is a crazy quilt made of both solid and printed silks and velvets. There are painted sections as well as embroidered sections. The center design is black velvet with the initials "M.B." surrounded by flowers. There is also a black silk piece with a painted "B" surrounded by flowers. There are embroidered flowers and fruits spread throughout. There are nine blocks, with each piece separated by decorative embroidery in white and yellow floss. The quilt has a red satin back and border. |

This crazy quilt is from the family of Gideon Shryock, the architect who designed the Old State Capitol. The donor was a great-niece of Gideon Shryock. |
