Description |
This is a chromolithographed theatrical poster for the play "Saints and Sinners" by J.A. Nunez. The central image is a devil in a red and yellow doublet, red tights, and a hat with a red feather. The figure dangles the earth from a string as a group of well dressed adults and children stand below looking up. The inscription "SAINTS AND SINNERS" is printed in blue and red and goes across the poster at a downward angle. Beneath the title is an inscription in black that says "BY J.A. NUNEZ." The signature of the artist, Matt Morgan, is beneath the devil's foot. Attached to the bottom is a yellow paper playbill advertising a one week run at MaCauley's Theatre in Louisville, Kentucky. It reads "MACAULEY'S THEARTE!/ ONE WEEK ONLY AND SATURDAY MATINEE,/ COMMENCING MONDAY MAY 24th." |
Notes |
