Description |
This fish trap is rectangular in shape and has a frame of wood pieces 1 ½ to 2 ¼ inches square. The rest of the trap is made primarily from slat boards approximately 1 ½" wide and 3/8" deep. The wood is low quality and irregular. Most times, the slats are attached to the frame with two round headed nails of varying sizes. The front of the trap is 27 ½ inches square and the end is open. Slats have been attached to the interior of the front end. The slats are attached to an 11 inch square frame that is about one-third of the way inside the trap. Aluminum wire has been used to sturdy some of the slats. The effect is that the slats and frame create a diminishing entrance. The top of the trap has a door 15 iches long by 16 inches wide made of six 16 ½ inch slats. They are held together with nails to two slats on the ends. Two metal hinges are attached to a board that is attached to the trap towards the back. Towards the front is the opening of the door with a metal hook and eye. There is an additional "Z" shaped metal latch to secure the opening. On the sides and bottom, the slats run front-to-back. On the back the slats run top-to-bottom. A polyester/synthetic yellow rope is attached at two places in the back and was also attached at two places in the front, but one has come untied. |
