Description |
This is a chalice from the communion set of the former Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Columbia, Kentucky. The chalice is silver plated in a footed goblet shape with a stepped base and rolled rim. There is engraved script lettering on the side of the chalice that reads, "Mt. Pleasant Christian Church." Inside the base there is the manufacturer's name reading, "THE MIDDLETOWN SILVER CO./ QUADRUPLE/ 1." |

This communion set was donated by Sharon Mandt. This silver communion set was from the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Columbia, Adair County, Kentucky. The set survived the 1974 tornado when the entire church was taken except for the pulpit. The set had been stuffed into the pulpit along with a lamp. The church was very old and the congregation so few that the church they did not rebuild nor continue. The surviving pieces were sold and the donor's mother purchased the communion set. |
