Description |
This is a badge for members of the reception committee for a Louisville visit by Theodore Roosevelt on April 4, 1905. The pin is a brass frame with a chromolithograph of Roosevelt in the center. The ribbon features red, white, and blue vertical stripes with a celluloid button attached to the bottom that has a white background. Printed in red on this button are the words, "Reception Committee". On the reverse, the ribbon has stamped in silver "WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO. / NEWARK, NEW JERSEY" at the top. |

President Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919) visited Louisville on Tuesday April 4, 1905. Arriving by train, Roosevelt was in town about two hours but was greeted by thousands, rode in a parade on Third Street, made a speech at the courthouse, met Governor J.C.W. Beckham, and attended a reception at the Louisville Hotel before leaving for Texas. |
