Description |
This is a lithograph entitled, "City of Louisville". This lithograph is in black ink. The top of the lithograph reads "German & Brother." At the bottom left corner, appears the words "Lithographers Engraver.' At the bottom right corner, appears the words, "Job Printers and Stationers." At the bottom center, "City of Louisville, Ky. / Birds eye view from Shelby St. to 18th St. / No 77 Third St. Louisville, Ky." The foreground of the illustration shows several boats and steamboats on the river with the background depicting the city. The reverse side has two images the first one is the Louisville Hotel and it is of a five story stone building with people walking, riding horses, and horse carriages on the street in front of it. Above the image it reads "Louisville Hotel" while "M.Kean & Co. Proprietors / Louisville, KY." is at the bottom. The second image is of the Maxwell House in Nashville and depicts a five story stone building with people walking and horse carriages on the street. There is a smaller building to the left and right of the main building. Above the image it reads "Maxwell House." while " M. Kean & Co. Managers, / Nashville, Tenn." There is a little paragraph below that describes the buildings. |
