Description |
This inauguration pin was worn by a member of the transportation committee at the 1911 governors inauguration in Kentucky. The top of the pin is in the shape of the Capitol building with two banners across it saying, "Kentucky's Capitol, Frankfort." The ribbon is red and gathered at the bottom where the medal is attached. The words, "Transportation Committee" are written on the ribbon in gold. The medal is in a circular shape with flowers with their stems intertwined at the bottom. The center has a printed picture of James B. McCreary, and Edward J. McDermott and the words, "Governor and Lieutenant Governor, Inauguration, 1911." |
Notes |
The 1911 Kentucky Inauguration made James B. McCreary governor, and Edward J. McDermott lieutenant governor. Campaigning on a platform of progressive reforms, McCreary defeated Republican Edward C. O'Rear in the general election. During this second term, he became the first inhabitant of the state's second (and current) governor's mansion; he is also the only governor to have inhabited both the old and new mansions. |
