Description |
This Iowa delegate badge is from the Republican National Convention of 1892 held in Minneapolis, MN. The pin rosette is made of blue silk ribbon and spiral metal loops with a green round center that says "Iowa Delegate" in silver letters. Around the green center is a spiral metal string, and below it is a blue silk bow. Hanging below the rosette is a white silk ribbon with "National Republican Convention/1892." and a patterned line of a fluer de lis, two flowers, and a fleur de lis. At the bottom of the ribbon are gold spiral metal tassels. |

This pin was worn by an Iowa delegate at the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis, MN 1892. Some delegates from Iowa were James S. Clarkson and James P. Conner. Clarkson recruited J. Ellen Foster as the mother of the Women's National Republican Association. J. Ellen Foster stood up at the 1892 convention and introduced the Women's National Republican Association. The National Republican Convention of 1892 nominated Benjamin Harrison and Whitelaw Reid to run in the election against Grover Cleveland. |
