Description |
This is a framed architectural rendering of the Capitol Annex Building in Frankfort, Kentucky. It was done in pencil by E. H. Olmstead, delineator, and is signed and dated by him in the lower right hand corner. The caption reads, "Capitao Annex Building/Commonwealth of Kentucky/Frankfort, Kentucky/Meriwether, Marye, and Associates/Architects and Engineers/Lexington, Kentucky." Pictured is a long, four-story, neoclassical building with a stairway up to a shallow central portico with five quoined, arched entries, surmounted by six Ionic columns supporting a cornice with a triangular pediment. Both ends of the building protrude, with stairs up to three quoined arched entries, surmounted by four Ionic columns supporting the cornice. There are ten windows on each floor on either side of the central portico and windows centered between each column of all three porticos. The fourth floor is recessed from the plane of the lower, three floors and is fronted by a balustrade. There are also balustrades between the tops of the stairways. The building has a hipped roof. There are five people around the left entry, six around the central entry, and eight around the right entry. "Property of / Clark Beauchamp" is penciled on the back, upper center. |
Notes |
