Description |
This object is an alternate's badge from the 1916 Democratic National Convention held in St. Louis, Missouri. The pin is of heavy brass and has a torch with olive branches on either side. The word "Alternate" is printed in gold on a rectangular blue plate between the olive branches. The ribbon attaching the medal to the pin has, from left to right, a red stripe, a white stripe, and a blue stripe. The medal has a round section with a building surrounded by the words, "Democratic National Convention / St. Louis." Below it is an eagle with spread wings standing on an enameled red, white, and blue shield with stripes and stars, and olive branches on either side. A maker's mark is stamped on the back of the medal, but is illegible. |
