Description |
This is a presentation mockup of the Thomas D. Clark Memorial Plaque (2001.38). It is made of foamcore with cutouts of the photographs to be modeled. It is spray tinted in bronze paint. The montage includes the front of the Kentucky History Center, the staircase in Commonwealth Hall, and Dr. Clark in a straw hat. The area for text in the lower right was ommitted from the final version. |
Notes |
The Thomas D. Clark plaque was commissioned by the Kentucky Historical Society Foundation Board in honor of Dr. Clark's contributions to the Kentucky History Center. It was dedicated at a banquet on his 98th birthday on July 17th, 2001, which also renamed the Center's research library, the Thomas D. Clark Library. The plaque was sculpted in two pieces by Louisville artist Ed Hamilton, and cast at Eagle Sign and Design in Louisville. This assemblage was used by Hamilton to present his ideas to KHS staff and board. |
