This is a page 573 from the August 29, 1885 edition of Harper's Weekly. The page depicts a layout of various scenes under the title "The Southern Exhibition at Louisville.-Drawn by H. F. Farny. " Under this title are titles for the images that are labeled numerically. The top left image is labeled "1. Art Gallery." and shows two people standing in front of an art exhibition. The paintings are exhibited in salon style and a man is setting at a desk in front of them. The Top center image is captioned as "2. General View of the Buildings." It shows a street scene next to a long ornate building structure. The image in the Top Right corner is labeled, "3. The Zuni Model in the Exhibit of the Geological Survey." This image shows a small scale model on the large table in the center of a room. Below are standing around it admiring it. In the distance there are artifacts in display cases. The image in the center is labeled "4. Interior of Central Nave." and shows a large room with clusters of people milling about. The artist's signature is in the lower right corner of this image. The lower left image is labeled "Sections of Big Trees in California." This image shows a few men standing n the middle of large cut tree trunks displayed around them. The Bottom center image depicts "6. In the Pavilion." This image shows people conversing around tables with white table cloth. The final image is titled "7. Street Procession at the opening." and shows large crowds of people walking through the streets. They are surrounded by large governmental buildings. On the backside the page is filled with articles and advertisements. |
