Description |
This is a magazine illustration in black and white wood engraving with the church central to the composition. The church's bell tower has four large stained glass windows that are visible and one large spire surrounded by five smaller spires. The gothic style church has a three story rectangular building directly attached. There is a lady and a couple with small child outside the fence in front of the church. |

This illustration appeared in the "Southern Quarterly Review, April 1868, page 46" in Edwards Louisville Directory, 1868. The purpose was to illustrate some of Louisville's most "prominent and remarkable" public buildings according to text on the reverse, page 35-36, which also has a small illustration of the Louisville skyline with waterfront. The chapter the text derives from is "A Journal of Progress." |
