Description |
This is a plastic nametag with an attached ribbon for the reunion of U.S. Submarine veterans in 1973. The nametag has a white paper insert with a dark blue stripe across the top. The blue stripe is separated by a drawing in black of a woman with upraised arms wearing shorts with a top and a man in a shirt, long pants and a serape and holding a guitar. On the left part of the blue stripe, there is a black drawing of two buildings and a tree and on the right part there is white lettering that reads "SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA". The donor's name, "ALENE ELLIOTT/ KENTUCKY" is typed in black. The gold satin ribbon is pinked on both ends, taped to the back of the nametag and has a black drawing of a submarine on waves of water separating black lettering that reads "U.S. SUBMARINE/ VETERANS/ WORLD WAR II" and "SAN DIEGO,/ CALIFORNIA/ 19th ANNUAL/ CONVENTION/ 1973". There is a pinback attached to the back of the nametag. |

This belonged to the donor, Alene Elliott. Alene and her husband, Ewert W. Elliott, were members of the United States Submarine Veterans of World War II (USSVWWII). Ewert served aboard the USS Seal (SS-183) and the USS Macabi (SS-375) submarines in World War II. |
