Description |
This chromolithographed theatrical poster is in full color. It features a gold armored rider siting on a white war horse with three other riders to the viewer's right. In the background are troops of spearmen and lines of tents. Flowers and brush fill the bottom foreground and sand dunes fill the far background. The poster is inscribed "HAVERLY'S SPECTACULAR PAGEANT/MICHAEL STROGOFF/THE ARRIVAL OF THE EMIR/SHOBER & CARQUEVILLE LITH.CO. CHICAGO". The theatre bill with dates and location that was attached to the bottom is torn off. |

This poster was used as packing material in miscellaneous containers recovered from the attic of the Speed Art Museum in Louisville, Ky. The poster was deaccessioned by the Speed in 1991 and transferred to the Kentucky Historical Society in 1997. |
