Description |
This is a pink participant's ribbon from the Thirteenth Reunion of the First Kentucky Orphan Brigade, C.S.A., held in Russellville, Kentucky on September 4, 1894. The silk ribbon has dark blue text that reads, "ORPHAN BRIGADE / 13TH REUNION / SEPTEMBER 4, 1894, / RUSSELLVILLE, KY." The center of the ribbon features a waving Confederate battle flag in red, white, and blue on a flagpole with a final. There are two tasseled ropes suspended from the apex. Above and below the lettering are horizontal borders consisting of three horizontal lines, a row of dots, and three more lines that are horizontal situated above and below these are small circular decorative motifs. |

The Confederate First Kentucky Brigade, nicknamed the Orphan Brigade, included the 2nd, 4th, 6th and 9th Kentucky Infantry regiments and Cobb’s, Byrne’s and Graves’s batteries of artillery, and, at times, the 3rd and 5th Kentucky Infantry. |
