Description |
This is a "Princess Feather" variation quilt. It is made of cotton. There are four appliqued blocks in the center decorated with eight petaled flowers constructed from a white dotted navy print and a red check print. The center blocks are separated by a pieced vertical line constructed of alternating diamonds of green, blue and red. There are two more such lines on the outside of the center blocks. The borders are 15-17" wide and has a different arrangement of the basic design of feathers and flowers. The side borders each have five appliqued flowers with multiple stems, leaves, and blooms (stems grow from edge of quilt and toward center). The fabrics include the blue dot and red check (from the center), a rose, green, and brown print, a green, brown, and white print, and a yellow print. The top border (where pillows are placed) has two half blocks identical to the center blocks. The bottom border has three flowers. The entire quilt has a red (welted?) pinstripe binding and a white dotted navy binding tape on the outside.. The backing is white muslin and there is very little batting. There is a .375" grid hand quilting on the background. The appliqued elements are outline quilted. |
